History

Nikolayev Sea Commercial Port is one of the oldest ports of Ukraine. It was founded in 1862.

In 1789 a new town, the future shipbuilding centre and sea port, was laid out on the bank of the Yuzhny Bug River.

The town was named Nikolayev after St.Nicholas, the patron of sailors. In 1 862 Nikolayev Port was opened for calling of foreign vessels. Since that time Nikolayev was developed as a big port and important economic centre of the South of Russia. Before World War I (1914) Nikolayev Port was the third in Russia (after St. Petersburg and Odessa) by volume of export trade.

Today Nikolayev Sea Port is an important transport unction in the South of Ukraine. It keeps trading relations with the major world ports and always has been consid-ered among the main national harbours.

We look into the future with confidence and invite you to mutually beneficial co-operation.
