Student grants / Financial Assistance The financial aid at the University of Texas Pan American is committed to providing eligible students with access to federal, state and local financial assistance programs in an efficient manner and in accordance with the laws and guidelines governing such programs.
Financial aid includes: Grants, Loans, and Scholarships. There are also other State Programs. Awards are made to eligible students regardless of sex, race, ethnic origin, disability or creed.
Admission requirements MBA Program requirements:
1. Copy of the Graduate Student Application for Admission.
2. Copies of official college transcripts from all institutions previously attended.
3. Copy of Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) score.
4. Copy of official score report for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

NOTE: Only completed application folders will be considered.

To be considered for admission to the MBA Program, applicants must meet the following standard: (GPA* x 200) + GMAT = 950
*Grade point average is calculated on the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework.

Students who do not satisfy the above 950 requirement for admission to the MBA Program, may be considered for admission to the MBA Program by providing strong supporting documentation such as letters of recommendation, resume and other evidence of potential success based on relevant work and leadership experience. In such cases, the applications will be reviewed and decided upon by the MBA admissions committee.

About the Programs


The MBA Program at The University of Texas-Pan American is designed for those wanting to pursue advanced study to enhance their business and administrative careers. The degree is designed to give the student exposure to management and the analytical decision-making skills needed to function in a changing business environment. Non-business undergraduate majors must complete a foundation of business courses. The graduate program requires a minimum of 36 semester hours after the MBA Foundation courses have been completed.

The MBA Online Program is another way to provide career advancement opportunities for busy professionals. The degree is offered online by eight academic campuses. Those campuses involved are UT Arlington, UT Brownsville, UT Dallas, UT El Paso, UT Pan American, UT Permian Basin, UT San Antonio, and UT Tyler. Program Objectives

• To provide an understanding of essential business skills in the functional business areas of accounting, economics, management, marketing, finance, computer information systems, and quantitative and research methods.

• To provide an applications-oriented curriculum designed to analyze daily problems faced in the work environment.

• To provide students an opportunity for personal development for a leadership career in the business world by improving communication, leadership and teamwork skills.

• To raise awareness of contemporary business issues facing today's business executives.


About the College and University


The College of Business Administration (COBA) at The University of Texas-Pan American has 49 full-time faculties who serve 2,250 Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and doctoral students. The undergraduate and master’s programs are fully accredited by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)-The International Association for Management Education. COBA has recently received accreditation for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Business Administration.

The University, located in Edinburg about 10 miles from the Mexican Border, is about 70 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and South Padre Island. The airport serving the area is in McAllen, only 10 miles from campus. Vegetation ranges from bouganvilleas and citrus groves to palms and prickly pear cactus in a climate with hot summers and mild winters where the temperature rarely drops to freezing.

Through a process of continuous improvement, the College of Business Administration seeks to provide quality educational programs that prepare graduates to function effectively in complex culturally diverse and technologically oriented professional environments. Because the College is committed to meeting the educational needs of the Rio Grande Valley, a specific emphasis is placed on the international and entrepreneurial aspects of business and economics.

The College values and encourages a balance of teaching and services as well as instructional, applied and discovery research consistent with the institution’s status as a comprehensive regional university.

The College is organized into four departments; the Department of Accounting and Business Law, the Department of Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Methods, the Department of Economics and Finance, and the Department of Management, Marketing and International Business.
