About the Programme
This CBS international business program addresses students
who are interested in studying in a practice-oriented school and
who seek to work in the globalised business world of the 21st
century. Accordingly, we aim to recruit students who are highly
motivated, self-confident achievers who are ready to take up the
challenges of working in a highly international setting and who,
in addition, aspire to make a leadership contribution to the globalised
industries in which they will find employment, as well as
to their local communities.
The CBS offers an international business program that allows
you to specialise in four different areas. With Cologne being an
important town in Germany's tourism industry, as well as the
home of many media companies and internationally active companies,
we provide specialisation possibilities in four different
directions, such as:
> TOURISM MANAGEMENT
> MEDIA MANAGEMENT
> EUROPEAN MANAGEMENT
> ASIAN PACIFIC MANAGEMENT
During the first semesters of their studies, all students will follow
a common track of introductory business courses. We then
teach you the basics of business administration and accounting,
organisation and management, marketing, economics and
other fundamental business courses. In addition, all students
participate in training aimed to enhance their social and analytical
skills, as well as intensive language training. Students then
proceed to follow the specialisation track of their choice.
The CBS has been successful because we offer a highly practice-
oriented program and approach to teaching and learning in
which you study in small groups. Our courses focus on the real
world of international business, the actual world in which you
will be working after graduation. Our links to a wide range of
large companies and (international) organizations keep our
courses pertinent and up-to-date. The presence of an outstanding
body of international faculty ensures that students receive
guidance in an internationally stimulating environment.
The specialisations provide the potential for a wide range of career
possibilities, be it in various branches of the consulting industry,
management, international trade, the ICT sector or even
in public service. We take great pride in the fact that our graduates
are highly valued by their employers. Many of our students
have also become engaged in or took the initiative in new startups.
Students who graduate at the Cologne Business School receive
a BA degree in international business. We also offer the possibility
to obtain second BA degree within 6 months after graduation
from one of our foreign partner schools.
About the School and University
Founded in 1993, the Cologne Business School (CBS) was one
of the first schools in Germany to introduce a Bachelor of Arts
degree in International Business. The CBS is the business
school of the European University of Applied Sciences (EUFH)
Rhein/Erft, which was recently rated as one of Germany's top
institutions of higher education in the area of business studies.
We are officially accredited by the German authorities and in
addition we received accreditation from the FIBAA (i.e. Foundation
for International Business Administration Accreditation,
the accreditation board for Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
Students apply at the CBS because they realize that in today's
interconnected international economy, managers need to be
able to think beyond their own borders and culture. In addition,
they need to be well versed in intercultural communication and
utilize knowledge of important economic and organizational
changes that characterize the world. Hence we teach you
more than just the theory of international business; we also
provide ample opportunities to learn more about yourself.
Facilities
The CBS offers state-of-the-art language learning facilities.
If you are a non-native English speaker, we will perfect your
English language skills. In addition, we require you to take a
second foreign language as well. That can be French or Spanish,
but we also give you the challenging and rewarding opportunity to
learn Chinese or Japanese. You can take this second language
course on a range of levels, starting from beginner to intermediate
and proficient levels.
Our computing facilities are equally excellent. We provide broadband
internet access on all computers in our PC lab. Furthermore,
we train you in matters such as web programming, e-commerce
and a range of other computer skills. Stud-IP is the web-based
community site at the CBS, an internet portal that not only allows
everyone to communicate easily with other members of the CBS
community, but also provides you with course outlines, course
materials, time tables, discussion boards and notice boards, as
well as with the latest CBS news.
Our library contains many electronic journals, which you can
access both from within the Schools PC lab and from home, but
also from any other place in the world. And if you can't find books
or hardcopies of journals in our library, you have access to the
larger libraries of Cologne's other institutes of higher education.
