POSTGRADUATE MBA STUDIES AT THE INSTITUTE OF COMPUTER SCIENCES OF THE POLISH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE WOODBURY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AT UTAH VALLEY UNIVERSITY
    1. MBA studies entitled “Innovations and Data Analysis” (taught in Polish and in English) are postgraduate studies crosscutting such disciplines as informatics, economics and management.

    2. The postgraduate MBA studies last two semesters. At the end of the studies the students defend their MBA projects (20 – 40 pages). 4. The postgraduate MBA studies are based on a part-time format. There are two modules per semester. Each module lasts from 11.00 on Wednesday till 12.30 on Sunday (plus optional classes). As a rule, each course (subject) is taught 8 hours.

    3. As a rule, there are two intakes per academic year: till October and till March.

    4. The Institute of Computer Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (in short IPI PAN) is the awarding institution. The Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University participates as an institution sending some of its representatives to teach selected courses/subjects and proposing some measures aiming at curriculum enhancement.

    5. Lectures from the Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University may supervise MBA projects providing there will be students interested in such supervision and the representatives will agree to undertake such a responsibility. “

The following courses will be offered during the two semesters of studies within the MBA Program:
  • Organizational Development
  • Marketing Strategy
  • Cloud Computing
  • Corporate Finance
  • Decision Making
  • Strategic Thinking
  • Managerial Economics
  • Technology Commercialization or Entrepreneurial Venturing
  • Leadership in Technology Industries or Strategic Positioning
  • Programme Management
  • Legal Issues in Knowledge Management
  • Data and Systems Security
  • Change Management
  • Global Business
  • MBA Seminar
  • Guest speaker series
IPI PAN also runs a special cultural program for MBA program delegates. The participation in the cultural program is not obligatory. It is just great fun! The purpose of the cultural program is two-fold. The program introduces the delegates, especially international ones, to the history and cultural heritage of the Polish people. It also serves as a catalyst for helping participants get to know each other. In practice a typical module looks like that:

Wednesday:

AM: delegate arrivals
PM: classes

Thursday:

Classes, Polish language lessons

Friday:

Classes, cultural program (either city bus tour, museum visit, concert, etc.),

Saturday:

Classes, module “get-together dinner”

Sunday:

Classes, consultations and departures

The cultural program will respond to the interests of MBA delegates and will feature what most delegates find fascinating. What delegates will do within the cultural program during a given module will be announced in advance. It is also possible to split the group and organize two parallel cultural events so that everybody goes to what he finds most interesting.
