General Presentation The Faculty of Orthodox Theology as part of the University of Oradea was instituted in March 1991 and carries on the activity of the former theological Academy in Oradea, founded on May 29, 1923. The appearance, soon after the 1989 events, of this faculty within a lay University meant not only the insurance of diversity that was to define such an institution of higher education but also a comeback of Christian spirituality in the general framework of the University. The priority of the educational curriculum is to mould the future congregations and teachers of religion for the public educational system.
In accordance with the stipulations of the protocol between the Romanian Patriarchy and the Ministry of Education, concerning the double subordination of the faculty to both the above mentioned institutions one seeks for a proper balance in consistently observing the lawful stipulations referring to the statute of the institutions of higher education as well as maintaining and assimilating in Orthodox doctrine, the Christian moral principles and norms of the Orthodox canon.
