Courses	Taught Courses: MA/Diploma in Translation Studies MA/Diploma in British Cultural Studies MA in Modern British Studies MA in Comparative Literary Theory MA in Colonial and Postcolonial Literatures in English 10 Week Certificate in Translation Studies, British Cultural Studies, British Cultural Studies and English language Teaching. Research Degrees: MPhil and PhD degrees in all areas listed above and in Comparative Cultural Studies.
Length of course(s)	MA and Diploma: 12 months full time, 24 months part time. PhD: three years full time, four years part time.

Class size	Seminar groups 3-15. Each student receives individual tuition.

Course/Program description

All MA courses are a combination of compulsory core courses, option courses and a dissertation, the topic of which is decided during the year through discussions between students and their supervisors. Students are also expected to attend methodology and research skills sessions in terms one and two and special guest lectures throughout the year.

About the University

The Centre has a long established international reputation in interdisciplinary and cultural studies, with special focus on translation and cultural transfer. The Warwick approach to translation and comparative studies focuses primarily on questions of intercultural transfer processes. The unique feature of the Warwick programme is the integration of interdisciplinary elements, which enables students to feel a strong sense of belonging to a coherent group of scholars.

Prominent academic publications

*Professor Susan Bassnett, is a world authority in translation studies.

*Professor Germaine Greer joined the Centre in 1998. Her newest book is entitled The Whole Woman.

*Professor David Dabydeen is an academic and a writer. His recent novel A Harlot’s Progress has received a lot of critical attention.

*Dr Jane Stevenson is a specialist in Classics, but her first volume of short stories has been published in 1999 by Jonathan Cape.

*Dr John Gilmore is a specialist in Caribbean studies, and his edition of James Granger’s poems will be published next year by Athlone Press.

*Dr Piotr Kuhiwczak’s book Successful Polish-English Translation has gone into second edition. Now he is preparing a textbook for studying translation and translation studies.

*Dr Joanne Collie has translated the works of the French philosopher Luce Irigaray, and recently has published in the field of using literature in the teaching of English language.
