Type of Programme	The School of Education and Lifelong Learning offers a wide range of programmes both full and part-time and by distance learning
Application deadlines	For most Postgraduate Programmes, the University has no formal application deadline, however students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as places may fill quickly.
Accommodation	The university guarantees accommodation to all new undergraduate students. In addition, all new unaccompanied postgraduate students from outside the EU are guaranteed accommodation for their first year of study.
Financial assistance	Many financial assistance and incentives are available: PGCE Programme: Dependent upon your residency status, you will receive a minimum Ł6,000 bursary. Master's Programme: Many of our full-time students receive funding from their local government education agencies as part of continuing professional development initiatives. MSc Education Research: Recognised by the ESRC, the school receives guaranteed ESRC studentship funding for outstanding Home and EU research students. PhD and EdD Studentships: Recognised by the ESRC, studentships are available for outstanding Home and EU research students. About the Programmes

BA Honours Programme:
3 year undergraduate programme in Education. The School offers 2 single honours:

Secondary: Art, Citizenship, Dance, Design & Technology, English with Drama, English with Media, Geography, History, Information and Communication Technology, Maths, Modern Foreign Languages (French, German, Spanish and Mandarin), Physical Education, Religious Studies, Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics).
PCE: Qualifying students to teach in Post Compulsory or Further Education

The School of Education and Lifelong Learning has an excellent reputation for quality teacher education programmes. The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) conducts regular school inspections and reviews of teacher education courses. Exeter is one of only 2 PGCE providers receiving top marks in all 3 Ofsted full inspection categories for Secondary PGCE (Management and Quality Assurance, Training, and Standards) as well as top marks for Management and Quality Assurance for Primary PGCE. The University of Cambridge is the only other PGCE provider to achieve this level of excellence.

An important part of this success is attributed to our excellent school-based work programme. School-based work provides the practical experience necessary for students to reinforce the teaching skills and techniques introduced to them through their university lectures. The School has created partnerships with over 300 schools, making this one of the largest, most diverse and successful partnership programmes in the country.

Masters Programme
Our Masters programmes are committed to providing excellence in Continuing Professional Development. Our academic staff are leaders in their fields and this expertise has been recognised by government examiners. The latest inspection by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) awarded our CPD provision a perfect score of 24, a testament to the quality of our teaching and support. The inspectors noted 'A coherent and well-integrated teaching and learning strategy operates at all levels of provision.'.

Full-time Masters programme -
The full-time Masters programme includes courses in Special Educational Needs, Creative Arts, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). In addition to the year long full-time structure, the TESOL course is also available part-time and as an intensive summer school session lasting 6 weeks for each of 2 consecutive summers.

Research
The School's academic staff are well respected for their contributions to the theory and practice of education. The quality of these contributions has been recognised in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), where the School was awarded an outstanding score of 5, acknowledging research of international excellence and the existence of a strong research culture. The School embraces a considerable variety of research activity, from large-scale externally funded programmes to small-scale collaborations with local teachers. Many of these involve international links with leading researchers in countries from around the world.

The School is the only institution in the UK to offer a full-time, part-time, and distance learning Masters programme in educational research that meets the strict guidelines demanded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). As such, we are also one of the few research outlets receiving guaranteed studentship funded places from the ESRC. Completion of the MSc in Educational Research naturally leads onto the MPhil/PhD programme, where students engage in high level personal research on a topic of their choice. Due to our size, success and the fact that we are not wedded to any one research paradigm, the School can offer research supervision in many areas of educational research. In addition the MPhil/PhD research degrees, the School has also developed a taught doctoral degree. The Doctor of Education (EdD) is an innovative degree programme based on five taught modules and a dissertation. Currently we offer the programme in 4 special fields: Educational Psychology, Special Needs and Inclusive Education, Mathematics Education, TESOL as well as our generic EdD in Education.

As well as an EdD programme, the school also offers a new DEd Psy in Educational Child Community Psychology – a requirement for those wishing to practice as Educational Psychologists. All research students have access to their own study area and desk space in the Research Support Unit, which provides ICT facilities, the help of a technician, access to help with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, and a loan service for equipment to support students' research.
