This major/minor course is particularly appealing as it offers the opportunity to study Law and Psychology modules which are of current and topical interest. The relationship between Law and Psychology is sometimes encapsulated within the field of legal psychology, and the course will draw upon this relationship between the two disciplines. The combination of Law and Psychology offers you a broad spectrum of skills and knowledge which could lead to a wide variety of careers. LLB (Hons) Law with Spanish This exciting qualifying degree combines established Law and Spanish courses, developing Spanish language skills from beginners to degree level in four years. The course is particularly notable in that there is no requirement that you have previous knowledge of the Spanish language. LLB (Hons) Distance-Learning This qualifying degree can be studied entirely externally but tuition is offered at intensive teaching weekends each academic year and attendance is strongly recommended. LLB (Hons) Sandwich This qualifying degree places great emphasis on preparing you for legal employment and professional life, with students spending their third year on placement with a legal firm. LLM Competition Law This is an exciting and increasingly important area of law, particularly internationally and EU-wide. This subject offers you the opportunity to explore the impact of competition law in areas such as monopolies and mergers and their regulation and control; cartels and price-fixing; market sharing and bid-rigging; intellectual property rights and anti-competitive practices; international competition and international trade. LLM Corporate Law Corporate Law focuses on corporate organisations and the law as it relates to them. The course has been designed in response to the rapid growth in the development of Corporate Law in both Britain and Europe, and to meet the needs of the legal profession in this area. Traditional subjects of corporate law are a key part of the programme, such as Insolvency Law. In addition you have the opportunity to study more contemporary subjects such as Intellectual Property and Employment Law. LLM Employment Law Employment law affects virtually all working people (much of the law in this area is relevant to the self-employed too) and is fast-changing, with political, economic and social influences and implications. This course covers both UK and EU law and the specific contexts of sport and health working relationships. LLM Europe and the Law This course offers you the opportunity to study the law in a European context. As well as basic and specialist EU areas of law, this programme also covers Human Rights Law, UK Comparative European Law, French Law, German Law and Conflicts of Law which have application to all legal jurisdictions. Please bear in mind – you do not need to speak French or German to enrol on this LLM. General LLM The course offers you the opportunity to study for a general Master's degree in Law. You will be able to select modules from the four specialised Master's courses in accordance with their interests and needs. LLM Health Law This course explores the controversial and expanding area of health law and ethics. The course is designed for a mixture of people in terms of background, including recent law graduates, practising lawyers and people working in the health care profession. You will examine general principles such as Consent to Treatment and Medical Ethics, together with more specialist areas such as the Law Relating to Organ Transplants, Reproduction and the Law, Mental Health Law, Medicines and Pharmacy Law, and Employment and Health. LLM Intellectual Property Intellectual Property is an increasingly important area of law, particularly internationally and EU-wide. The course offers you the opportunity to explore intellectual property law in both UK and EU contexts, together with the links to competition law and sport. This course explores in particular Intellectual Property (Corporate), Intellectual Property and EU Competition Law, Sport and Intellectual Property Law. LLM International Criminal Justice Criminal law and criminal justice are becoming increasingly internationalised areas of law, which means that there is a need within the legal profession to evaluate criminal law theory and the emerging principles of international criminal law. The focus here is on International Law in relation to international criminal processes and the ‘international criminal’. LLM Insolvency Law Insolvency law is concerned with how societies allocate the risk of financial failure and impinges on many other areas of law such as contract and property. An understanding of how insolvency impacts on businesses, commercial transactions and individuals is increasingly critical to anyone who aspires to a career in commercial law, finance and banking, restructuring or debt resolution. The LLM insolvency modules are designed to complement LLM corporate and LLM international trade modules in particular. LLM Criminal Justice Criminal justice topics are both topical and problematic. The general public are understandably concerned about the level and severity of criminal activity and the way in which offenders are punished; yet there is frequently a mismatch between the public perception of crime and the statistical evidence. Newspaper headlines often paint a very inaccurate picture. The way we treat criminals is often regarded as a measure of our civilisation. LLM International Trade This popular course explores diverse areas of this subject including International Sales and Carriage of Goods, Insurance, International Finance, International Finance, International Dispute Resolution and World Trade Organisation (WTO) Law. The latter is of particular importance since the entry to the WTO of India and China. LLM Sports Law This course explores the growing area of Sports Law. The course will be of interest to people from a variety of backgrounds, including recent law graduates, practising lawyers and those working in sports related professions, such as sports science. This course focuses on the Regulation of Sport at both UK and EU level and explores areas such as Sport, Law and the Human Body; Intellectual Property and Sport; Employment Issues and Sport; and Sport, Law and Society.
