Joint honours degrees : BA(Hons) Law and Business BSc(Hons) Law and Psychology BA(Hons) Law and Criminology BA(Hons) Psychology and Sociology BA(Hons) Social Policy and Sociology BA(Hons) Criminology and Psychology BA(Hons) Criminology and Sociology BA (Hons) Criminology and Social Policy All full-time degree courses are for three years duration with the exception of the BSc(Hons) Law and Psychology (four years) and the LLB(Hons) Maîtrise en Droit Français (four years). Part-time Courses LLB(Hons) BA(Hons) Social Science and Law Both these courses can be completed within four and a half years and are available in the evenings (two evenings per week). Graduate Diploma Graduate Diploma in Psychology This course is aimed at non-psychology graduates (with some previous study in psychology) and joint-degree psychology graduates whose courses did not have British Psychological Society (BPS) accreditation. The course, which can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis, will supply the graduate basis for BPS registration. Successful completion and BPS registration allows graduates to go on to professional or postgraduate courses in areas such as clinical, educational and forensic psychology. Postgraduate Courses MA Social Science Research Methods MA Public Health MA Criminal Justice These are designed on an integrated basis, engaging with students' own experiences and employment needs.
Type of course	Full-time and part-time
Date of commencement	The academic year commences in September of each year. Applications for full-time courses should be via UCAS (the Universities Central Admissions Service) and can be made between mid October 2003 and 15th January 2004. The Admissions Tutor will consider late applications. For postgraduate applications, please contact Social Science and Law directly at the address given above under contact details. Applications can be made during the preceding year for a September start, but early application is recommended.

The School of Social Science and Law

Sheffield Hallam University offers learning opportunities in law, criminology, psychology, sociology, social policy and community justice. Teaching is based at Collegiate Crescent Campus in one of Sheffield's leafiest fashionable suburbs - less than two miles from the bustling city centre.

Working closely with employers, professional bodies and other organisations, the has three main strengths:

· courses are flexibly designed and can be tailored to meet students' individual interests,

Research Themes

Each subject group in Social Science and Law is strongly committed to research, and our successful results in the national Research Assessment Exercise have been encouraging. Social Science and Law has developed focused research through three research centres, which are:
· Research Centre in Community Justice
· Research Centre in Human Rights
· Research Centre in Human Behaviour.

In addition, wide ranging research in social policy links the School with the University's Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR).

A number of postgraduate studentships have been established and this will be extended, along with our commitment to supervising independent research students, whether full-time or part-time.
