The School of Systems runs undergraduate and postgraduate courses in our associated subject areas of Computer Science, Cybernetics, Electronic Engineering and Information Systems. At the undergraduate level there are degrees in each of these subject areas, as well as joint subject degrees between each pair of the first three subjects: we also have school wide degrees in Robotics and in Systems Engineering; joint degrees between IT and Business; and a new Computational Science degree with Mathematics. All these degrees last three years, leading to a BSc or BEng qualification; some degrees have variants with an extra year in industry; we also run some four year degrees leading to a MEng qualification. Our degrees are accredited by the professional bodies IET (formerly IEE) or BCS as appropriate. At the postgraduate level, we run a number of single year MSc degrees, in Networked Centred Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences and Cybernetics; we also run a European ERASMUS MUNDUS MSc in Network and e-Business Centered Computing programme jointly with Aristotle University of Thessaloniki(AUTh), University Carlos III Madrid (UC3M) and Trinity College Dublin. The degrees are supported by excellent laboratories and equipment. A significant feature is that the degrees have considerable practical "hands-on" content, including substantial project work. External Examiners have often commented that the best undergraduate projects they have seen at Reading are as good as the best projects at other UK Universities. There are numerous reasons for choosing our degrees, for instance: Highly respected degrees. Our graduates are described as readily employable and highly regarded by industry, by the government's quality assurance body and by accrediting institutions. Excellent career opportunities. Located at the heart of the Thames Valley where many of the UK's biggest Hi-Tech companies are located. Almost all of our graduates find jobs either prior or soon after graduation. Great choice of degrees, with the ability to change between different degrees, and with options to learn a foreign language or industrial placement. Internationally renowned School for excellence in research. Guaranteed Accommodation in a hall of residence if Reading is your first choice. |
