The full-time MBA is ALBA's flagship program and has one important aim: to develop leaders with general management skills and perspectives, enabling them to succeed in today's business challenges. We achieve this through an over-intensive 12-month curriculum that consists of a broad range of courses that cover all fundamental management issues. The Preparatory Period starts in August every year, while the core courses commence in September.
Designed for highly motivated individuals
The program attracts young professionals who are dynamic and highly motivated. Participants come from different academic and multicultural backgrounds, and wish to advance their career or change career paths. They may hold degrees in disciplines as diverse as Engineering, Science, Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Humanities and Liberal Arts. While the program targets experienced professionals, individuals with a distinguished academic record, but with limited experience may also apply.
Solid foundation in general management The ALBA MBA provides a solid foundation in general management skills. You will gain an in-depth knowledge of management through the core courses, while the electives will allow you to tailor the program to your own needs.
Cultivating teamwork and innovative thinking
Entrepreneurship is assimilated into the entire MBA program by faculty who encourage entrepreneurial behaviour and practices in their courses. You are also required to take a core course in Entrepreneurship, which will give you the insight to create new and innovative businesses. Your team will be required to devise and write a business plan for a company that you plan to launch, based on realistic venture ideas. Plans are presented to a panel of venture capitalists, business development managers, and other experts who select the team which will represent ALBA in the prestigious European Business Plan of the Year Competition (EBPYC). In fact, ALBA won the first prize in the 2003 EBPYC held in Rotterdam, and is one of the few business schools that has consistently been among the competition finalists over the last three years.
Enhancing leadership skills
As leaders set the tone in organizations, it is important that they recognize and regulate their own emotions, as well as the emotions of others around them. Such Emotional Intelligence (EI) skills are therefore a critical aspect of management and are uniquely integrated into the MBA program starting from the Preparatory Period. The concept of Emotional Intelligence is continuously supported throughout the year, by relevant exercises and practical courses including Negotiations, Creativity and Problem Solving.
The field-consulting project
The field-consulting project is the culmination of a year's intensive learning, and the time to implement concepts and methods in a real company environment. You will form teams and spend approximately three months examining a real-life business problem commissioned by an organization. Using the theoretical concepts acquired in class, your team will closely work with the organization, and identify and propose creative and workable solutions. The success of the field consulting projects is evidenced by the large number of proposals submitted by companies each year.
Through our exchange programs, MBA students from international business schools around the world study at ALBA. Some of the schools we currently cooperate with are the Bordeaux Business School (France), EM Lyon (France), Toulouse Business School (France), Kon University (Turkey) and the Leipzig School of Management (Germany). Through such programs, you can build business networks around the world and gain from each other's experiences.
Irrespective of your financial status, we seek to attract the most outstanding individuals who have demonstrated potential and who can make a difference. We are therefore committed to helping full-time MBA students finance their studies. Applicants who have been accepted may, apply for scholarships and bank loans.
