    Course/Program description

Diamond College offers a unique modular language learning programme which offers the student flexibility in the organisation of the course. The syllabus is designed to allow you to choose the number of lessons and the areas covered by the lessons that will suit you.

  • General English - focus on accuracy and fluency
Students at the Diamond College School of English benefit from a balanced curriculum which focuses on the fours key skills of language learning - listening, speaking, reading & writing, and on the development of spontaneous use of English. Two lessons each morning are devoted to Accuracy in the use of grammar, syntax & vocabulary. A further two lessons concentrate on Fluency in the spoken language during which students are trained to communicate effectively in a wide range of everyday situations. Depending on their requirements students can choose to omit either the accuracy or fluency module of the General English Programme.

  • Examination Preparation Courses
Diamond College offers preparation for the Cambridge First Certificate and Certificate of Advanced English, as well as preparation for IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC. Preparation for KET & PET is available by special arrangement. Options include:
Full-time programme: the student follows the General English course in the morning with specific exam practice in the afternoon. This option is ideal for those who need to upgrade their general English skills before sitting the examination.
Part-time programme: students who are confident of their oral and / or grammatical capabilities are able to omit one or both of the General English modules (accuracy and fluency) in order to concentrate on exam practice.

  • Business English Courses
Diamond College offers two options for Business English courses. Students can follow the General English course in the morning and choose a Business English specialisation for the afternoon. Alternatively, students can join a full-time Business English programme. Please contact the college directly for starting dates.

    About the School

Located in the heart of London’s West End and only a short distance from the City, Diamond College is easily accessible from all parts of London.

Part of the OISE group of leading language schools, the College was founded in 1986 and its success is based on:

  • Providing carefully structured courses at all levels, given by qualified and experienced staff, whose dynamic, enthusiastic personalities inspire students to learn and make progress.
  • Organising classes into small groups under the guidance of expert teachers, which allows faster learning and higher levels of concentration and motivation.
  • Using the very latest equipment and teaching materials, including audio-visual equipment and CD-ROM based interactive learning resources.

The first floor building has recently been refurbished to a very high standard providing students with light, spacious classrooms, a well-equipped learning resources centre and common room.

    Location

The school is located in Oxford Street, the main shopping street in London, and one of the most famous streets in the world. This central location makes it easy for students to explore the many shops, restaurants and places of interest that are to be found nearby.
The nearest Underground station is Tottenham Court Road, a minute’s walk away.

    London

Living in London with a host family enables students to see and experience a fashionable city from the perspective of a Londoner. Diamond College helps its students to make the most of their time in London through the careful selection of friendly, welcoming host families and through the ‘London Experience’, an exciting and varied programme of cultural and leisure activities, all, of course, conducted in English and aimed at helping students to discover the city and its main attractions.

    Accommodation

Host families offer their students ‘a home from home’ where they feel relaxed, welcome, and secure. The hosts are welcoming and above all genuinely interested in receiving students and helping them to develop fluency in English. Moreover, the student receives a unique insight into British life and customs.
