Middlesex University Business School is one of the largest Business Schools in the UK, with around 6,500 students based at our Hendon campus in North London, which is a 20-25 minute train ride from the centre of the city. Since its foundation in the 1960s, the Business School has developed and expanded extensively and is now a key London campus for the development of Management and Business-related skills, knowledge and practice.
We particularly value the multi-cultural nature of our students, clients and staff and pursue every opportunity to provide a truly international experience through the delivery of our programmes overseas and the facilitation of worldwide exchange and internship opportunities. Middlesex University Business School is delivering its programmes on campuses in Hong Kong, Dubai and Cairo, among others.
Our MBA programme is accredited by the Association of MBAs (www.mba-courses.com/amba.htm) making it one of only 37 among 120 MBAs in UK universities, and positioning our MBA among the top 25% in the country. Other programmes also carry professional accreditation – Law, Accounting, Marketing, Human Resource Management, and more. Middlesex has also developed a Joint Masters programme which allows students to study two subjects in major-minor combination. This helps students to fulfill career needs and aspirations, for example combining Human Resource Management with Law; Marketing with Management; or Economics with IT. Research at the Business School takes many forms. Applied research, pure research, action-oriented research and scholarship all inform our wide-ranging schedule of activities. Much action research is conducted in partnership with organisations. The two main research centres at the Business School are the Centre for Advanced Management Research and the Centre for Legal Research. Business School staff are also involved in multi-disciplinary activities with other Schools at Middlesex University.
Executive training programmes and consultancy are a core component of our activities and our clients include a large number of multi-national organisations, National Health Service Trusts, public sector organisations, local and central government agencies and NGOs. The Business Development Unit was established on the Hendon campus in September 2001 to work with businesses in the local, national and international communities. We provide management training, contract research and knowledge transfer partnerships to a wide variety of businesses, including the National Health Service, the Metropolitan Police force of London, local government agencies and a number of local organisations, as well as to companies and organisations around the world. Middlesex University Business School encourages the appointment of Associate and Visiting Professors who contribute knowledge and experience to our programmes. In addition, our schedule of guest speakers brings additional experience and expertise. Recent speakers have included Lord Marshall (Chairman, British Airways), Sir Peter Davies (Chairman, Sainsburys plc), Sir Tom McKillop (Chief Executive, AstraZeneca), Clive Mather (Chairman, Shell UK), Todd Stirzer (Chief Executive, Cadbury Schweppes) and many more, all valued contributors to the vibrant academic programme at Middlesex.
The facilities of the Business School include a new state-of-the-art Learning Resource Centre, a modern, spacious Graduate Centre, well-equipped library, IT and language labs and high quality accommodation. We also have the newly built Borough Sports Club which includes a fully-furnished health and fitness centre, sauna and steam rooms. The Centre’s sports hall caters for badminton, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and other team and individual sports. There is also an adjoining all-weather sports and astro-turf pitch. A new ‘Real Tennis’ stadium was opened in 1999 and a swimming pool and running track are within walking distance of the campus.
We look forward to hearing from you and assisting you with your study needs. Thank you for your interest in Middlesex University.
