About the Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice
The Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice received the A+ category in physical culture sciences in 2022 and, as a scientific unit, creates an environment in which innovative solutions and scientific achievements are possible thanks to specialized staff, modern research infrastructure, and well-equipped laboratories.
In the 2019-2024 Perspektywy University Ranking, the University of Physical Education in Katowice was recognized as the "Best University of Physical Education" in Poland. Additionally, in the 2020-2024 ranking, physiotherapy ranked first in the majors ranking. In 2024, the university also ranked first in the Scientific Potential category.
In 2024, the University of Physical Education in Katowice was recognized as the best Polish sports university in the ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Sport Science Schools and Departments. In 2025, it received accreditation from the Center for Postgraduate Medical Education in Warsaw as a center specializing in physiotherapy.
For many years, the Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice has also enjoyed success in sports. Each year, students representing our university compete for the highest honors in the Polish Academic Championships, the most important sporting event for the university sections of the AZS (Academic Sports Association) and the entire academic community. For years, the Katowice Academy of Physical Education has consistently topped the medal table, winning over 50 medals each season. In terms of points, it is also one of the top three physical education universities in Poland.
