    Institute of Distance Learning

    Director: professor G.A.Krasnova, D.Sc (philosophy)

The institute was set up by the decision of the University Scientific Council in 1997 as a structural division of the University on the distant form of training with the rights of the faculty. The opening of this Institute was conditioned by economic and geo-politic reasons: a large territory of this country and peoples’ desire to study (advance studies or second higher education) without interrupting their main professional activity. The residents of distant regions received an opportunity to pursue at home an education course in the country’s capital.

The Institute offers training courses in the following majors:
    • economics and management on the enterprises
    • national economy
    • accountancy, analysis and auditing
    • jurisprudence
    • journalism
    • state and municipal government
    • psychology

The duration of the courses can be full term and shortened according to the programs approved by the Scientific and methodic department of the University. The tuition in these courses is conducted in the Russian regions through the University’s Branches in the cities of Yakutsk, Yaroslavl, Perm, Belgorod, Tula, Ivangorod, Tambov, Izhevsk, Stavropol.

The training in the Institute provides for University’s teachers and professors trips to the regions of Russia in order to conduct wider consultations several times in the academic year. The process of studies includes regular control tasks and course works, academic and industrial practices as well. The information is transmitted from the Institute’s representative office to the Institute by a traditional way (post) and by the electronic means (e-mail, internet). According to the curriculum in-class study occupies 1/3 of the full-time term of study. The students pursue their independent studies with the access to the literature on computer disks and in the electronic library.

The total number of the graduates of the Institute comes now to 1000 persons. The graduates of this Institute receive Diploma of Specialist or Bachelor of the PFUR, that is recognized all over the world.

The Institute takes an active part in the scientific developments in the field of education. The main direction of the Institute’s scientific and research works is the development of new information technologies where even now the Institute has achieved higher results. In December 2002 the Institute introduced into activity federal portals on social, humanitarian and political education (www.humanities.edu.ru), on the support of the joint state exams (www.ege.edu.ru), that were created by the Institute in the frame work of the Russian Federal special program “Development of united informational and educational environment” (2001-2005). Since 2003 the Institute has been appointed a leading institution on a scientific and technical program “Creation of a system of the open education” under the Ministry of Education of Russia.
