The School of Management offers challenging and rewarding programmes via full-time campus-based study or part time at a distance. You can study the following programmes on a full-time basis:
All of our postgraduate programmes, whether studied on campus at Leicester or remotely, consist of four stages where you will study core modules, option modules – which provide you with the flexibility to tailor your study around your interests - and a dissertation. During the final stage you will review a range of alternative research methods and undertake your research project, which provides you with an opportunity to examine in depth a topic of relevance to your own interests. This provides you with the opportunity to integrate concepts, techniques and competencies acquired during the course of the programme. Students who choose to study our AMBA accredited MBA are offered the choice of studying for a general MBA or opting to follow one of a number of specialist routes including Employee Relations, Information Technology Management and Quality Management. Whichever course you decide to study, or route by which you study it, our programmes are developed with the professional in mind and offer many opportunities for career enhancement. They are designed to benefit you as an individual and enable you to contribute to the success of your organisation. Most of our courses also have professional recognition from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), meaning you will be studying a high quality qualification which has real credibility with employers. When you join a postgraduate programme at the University of Leicester you will be making a significant investment in your future. Your decision to join the programme will be one of the most important decisions you will ever make. If you demand first rate academic standards, are willing to have some of your basic managerial assumptions challenged, and are ready for the hard work involved, you will find studying one of our masters programmes to be a rewarding and enriching experience. The University of Leicester School of Management is increasingly recognised as one of the top management schools within the UK, with an excellent international reputation for the development and teaching of highly stimulating business administration and management courses that are highly relevant to your career needs. It certainly boasts all the credentials which you might expect from a recent recipient of The Times Higher University of the Year Award. The University of Leicester prides itself on being “Elite Without Being Elitist” and at the School of Management this ethos is deeply embedded. Known for the ‘Leicester Model’ of management studies, the school takes a multi-disciplinary approach to the study of management and organisations drawing from across the social sciences and unlike most mainstream western business schools, the concern is as much with challenging the status quo rather than perpetuating it. We take seriously our commitments to PRME, the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education. We realise that the pressing issues of management, finance and organisation in the coming years will increasingly be those of more peripheral concern in the past and present and the depth of our commitment to sustainable, responsible, ethically inspired management puts us ahead of the curve. Founded in 1989, the School of Management has grown to become one of the largest providers of distance learning management courses in the UK. Our MBA and MSc programmes offer students deep knowledge, clear expertise and professional rewards for life. We are a member of the Association of Business Schools (ABS) and our MBA is the largest AMBA accredited MBA offered by any UK business school. The School of Management is a vibrant department consisting of a community of scholars with an international reputation. The enthusiasm you will find in the lecture theatres and seminar rooms comes from our commitment to our subject and our attempts to develop and energise it. In the last few years we have invested heavily in academic and administrative staff appointments; library provisions and career support and continue to do so. Whatever your chosen discipline for an MBA degree or MSc, our goal is to equip you with a range of theories, techniques and concepts. However, whereas most business schools stop there, we go further: we guide you as you unpick these concepts, challenge them and question their relevance to contemporary society for we believe that management is too important not to debate. |
