Date of commencement
The Winter semester begins on 1 October and extends until the end of January, with the Christmas and New Year break. The Summer semester begins in mid-February, after the semester break, and extends until the last week of June, with a short break for Easter holidays. There is also an additional exam session in September – after the long summer holidays (July-August).

Class size
The maximum number of students who can study the Programme is 25.

Cost / fees
Tuition fees cover the cost of participation in the program and have been set for the academic year 2018/2019 at 3000 euros per year . Students from outside the EU/EFTA area should pay additional single fee which amounts to 200 euros.

Accommodation
The Institute of Political Science has to its disposal about 10-15 rooms in student dormitories for students studying within the Programme. There are in Warsaw also a lot of opportunities to rent a flat.

Many different job opportunities are available for graduates of the Programme such as working in public and state institutions, local governments and schools of higher education and law enforcement agencies.

Exchange partner schools
Institute of Political Science co-operates with many foreign universities. Within the Erasmus Program it has signed agreements with about 50 universities from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom (selected students of the Undergraduate Programme in Political Science can study one semester at one of these universities).

Admission requirements
Any person who completed a secondary school in Poland or in another country is eligible for admission. The programme language is English; therefore, a candidate should speak English fluently enough to be able to study in this language. Undergraduate Degree Programme in Internal Security


The Institute of Political Science, University of Warsaw, as one of the first academic centres in Poland, decided to launch a new field of study – Internal Security.

It was the answer to the growing demand for the theoretical knowledge and its practical use in the area of internal security and public order. The Institute of Political Science provides educational opportunities at both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. To improve its educational offer the Institute of Political Science decided to start a new and innovative Undergraduate Programme in Internal Security (UPIS) which is addressed to all international and Polish applicants who are interested in gaining knowledge about the security issues in the age of globalization. UPIS covers the variety of courses which are taught in English.

Apart from the regular courses our students are also invited to take part in the academic life by participating in events such as: conferences, debates, lectures of guests from all over the world and numerous social events.

About the Institute of Political Science, University of Warsaw

Institute of Political Science at University of Warsaw was founded in 1967 - initially as a part of the Philosophy Faculty.

Currently, the Institute operates in the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies. The Institute is the oldest, largest and - for several years - has been rated the best of all political science centers in Poland. The Institute of Political Science provides teaching and research of the highest standard. It has undergone voluntary academic audit procedures and has received the Teaching Quality Certificate from the University Accreditation Committee - with distinction. This enabled the Institute to receive the pro-qualitative financial support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education given only to the best Faculties in Poland.

The teaching includes political science studies in the following programs: BA and Master's degree studies (both in Polish and English), different postgraduate studies in Polish and doctoral studies (in Polish and English). Moreover, the Institute offers BA and Master's degree studies in Internal Security (Polish and English). The Institute employs over 80 academic staff.

Several factors contribute to the high level of teaching, among which is the location of the Institute in Poland's capital, its tradition, experience and prestige. The Institute readily adapts to the changing world modifying existing curricula and embracing new teaching methods. Various job opportunities are available for our graduates such as working in a public and state institutions, local governments and schools of higher education and law enforcement agencies.
