About the School

Direct Learning are a member of ABLS (Association of British Language Schools), with an annual inspection.

Direct Learning have a network of teachers in Bath and Bristol, both very attractive, historic cities with a wealth of cultural sights and events and an ideal starting point for excursions to the beautiful South West.

Homestay courses for younger learners are also available with the same features as the adult ones. Teenagers are placed in families with children of a similar age and the leisure programme is geared towards younger students' interests.

All Direct Learning homes offer accommodation and full board of a high standard with a well-educated, cultured family background. The client’s time outside the lessons is spent with the teacher and family in a customised leisure programme. The teacher accompanies the client on daily outings, arranges evening entertainment and visits to cultural events, e.g. dinner parties, concerts, theatre, sports events etc. The leisure programme is geared towards the client's interests and hobbies and we choose a teacher/family with similar interests, hobbies and age wherever possible. Thus teaching carries on all day and the lesson content is actively consolidated. Many interesting contacts are made through the teacher's social and professional network.
