The Department of Management, Strathclyde Business School at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow

Strathclyde Business School founded in 1947, is internationally respected as one of the most innovative business schools in Europe and has one of the largest academic faculties in Europe. Strathclyde is accredited by the international accrediting bodies, AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB, and is one of only 27 in the world to have such a distinction. In fact, less than 1% of business schools in the world hold triple accreditation status. In Scotland, no other business school is accredited so highly.

Strathclyde also performs consistently well in the UK government research and teaching assessments.

Location
Scotland is one of Europe's most unique destinations, famed for its history, castles, scenery, lively cities, warm hospitality and its traditions. The School is situated in a modern award-winning building in the heart of Glasgow's city centre - the commercial capital of Scotland. Glasgow is Scotland's largest city and is one of the liveliest and most cosmopolitan destinations in Europe - a city of culture, a city of design, a city recognised as having the best shopping experience outside London.

Strathclyde MBA programmes
The Strathclyde MBA (various modes of study designed to suit your individual circumstances and personal learning preferences). Full time - 12 months; part time - 30-36 months; flexible learning - 24-60 months; part time via international centres - a 2 year programme run in collaboration with local partners in the Gulf, Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Switzerland and Greece. We also offer The Leadership MBA in partnership with the Leadership Trust.

Admission Requirements
Good university degree or equivalent qualifications. Min. age 24 years. Min. 3 years postgraduate work experience. GMAT, TOEFL/IELTS may be required. Interview. There is a high standard of admission for all students and we accept only mature, well-experienced participants who we believe will make a positive contribution to our MBA programmes. On average, our full time MBA course members will have an average age of 32 and have nine years work experience. There is a compulsory interview for all applicants before a place is confirmed.

The MBA programme
The Strathclyde MBA is based on collaborative learning where work experience, knowledge, understanding and applicable skills are shared, worked with and reflected on. The programme is designed for ambitious, talented and well-qualified individuals with solid business experience. It comprises compulsory modules supported by a selection of optional in-depth functions, allowing students to tailor their MBA to suit their career aspirations. Students spend time working on and building a corporate strategy. Strategic analysis and strategic thinking are central to the programme and run throughout the modules. The MBA programme seeks to help students develop ways of grappling with opportunities and problems in the practice of management. The team-working approach fostered at USGSB means uniting an extraordinary range of people from different countries, backgrounds and cultures. Managing this is a challenging task for each participant.

Our full time MBA has a truly international flavour with at least 20 nationalities represented every year, while our part time programme is a Scottish networking experience, and flexible learning allows the individual to tailor both the pace and place of their study. Whatever route is chosen, the MBA programme offers a challenging and stimulating experience, whatever your ambitions.

Academic strengths
The Business School's 14 subject departments and specialist units collaborate to provide a dynamic, fully rounded and varied programme of specialist and cross-disciplinary postgraduate courses.

Academic staff have a multi disciplinary outlook and build on the extensive expertise of academic staff from other business faculty departments. Our academics have particular expertise in the areas of strategic management, leadership and scenario planning. Staff also undertake a broad range of consultancy activities both in the UK and Internationally. The School place's particular importance on strategic management at the level of developing strategy in any organisation, big or small, departmental, or divisional.
