Master's Program in Ecotoxicology


Ecotoxicology aims to investigate effects of chemicals on biological systems in order to develop methods for risk assessment and management, as well as to predict ecological consequences. The international Master of Science in Ecotoxicology therefore integrates concepts of Environmental Chemistry, Toxicology, and Ecology and includes Social Sciences and Economics, as well.

Due to its interdisciplinary and applied approach, the program enables its graduates to analyze complex problems and to develop practical solutions. An international direction of the study program is realized by our international research staff, regular talks of guest lecturers from abroad and internships which can be undertaken all over the world. All mandatory courses are taught in English.

The master’s program provides a comprehensive education in ecotoxicology along with a basic and application-oriented understanding of the fate, distribution, effects, risk assessment, and risk management of chemicals in the environment and consists of nine compulsory modules:
